I’m not fond of the word boudoir.  I don’t think it describes what the session is about.  If i were taking pictures of the room, perhaps yes, but i’m not.  So when i decided to delve into the world of “boudoir,” my immediate instinct was to not use that word.  However, like all labels, the word became associated with intimate pictures of woman.  I’m one to change things, but i’m not one to make up a new name just to be different.  So boudoir it is.

I got into boudoir for a couple reasons.  The first being that I’m a wedding photographer, and just like an engagement session – a boudoir session compliments a wedding nicely.  The second reason is that i’m not a fan of how boudoir is done – for the most part – and i wanted to give my interpretation of what it is.  Unfortunately, I feel like boudoir sessions are becoming synonymous with bad lingerie, over-exaggerating outfits, saturated colors and sometimes just plain cheese.  To me, what was lost, was the reality of the person and the session.  I wanted to create something more raw, more intimate, more intense.  So i set out to do that.  The experience is down to earth and real.  It is meant to showcase the person in a way that is specific to their personality.  This way, the other person viewing the images can connect and relate to it.  After all, that connection is what brought them together in the first place.

So i set out and did a couple sessions.  Secretly.  And now, I’m showing the world.
