DC in an hour …

… well, actually more like 45 minutes, but that doesn’t sound as cool :)

So i got the chance to go to Washington, DC for the weekend to shoot 2 engagement sessions.  Original plans were unfortunately changed at the last minute and i ended up going alone. I wasn’t sure what to expect from DC.  The last time i was there was on a field trip in 8th grade, so its not like a got to see the actual city – or even remember it :)  I was impressed from the get go … the city is wonderful!  With minimal high buildings, clean areas, beautiful monuments and architecture … the city had it all.  Within minutes is historic Georgetown and Alexandria … and restaurants, shops, museums and different cultures are everywhere!  In just the 28 or so hours i was there i got to experience new foods, new people, new places and AMAZING blooming of the cherry blossoms.

If you get a chance … go to that.  I already plan on bringing the family back for the cherry blossom festival next year.  You will never forget it – its absolutely breathtaking.  But as always, i had to go … but i was excited to get home to my family.  The city will make you feel wonderful and proud to be from America … a land i truly love.

My clients were wonderful … so thank you to both sets.  A little more will be discussed on about you in the blog post of your session :)  I leave you with some images i snagged in about an hour prior to my 2nd shoot in the morning.  Little did i know .. my hotel was 2 blocks from the White House … very cool :)

Now Playing … Rise Against

Music is such a big part of my life.  I have been playing some type of instrument since i was around 10 years old.  I was in a band in my late teens to early 20’s and have assembled quite a unique collection of music from the time when CDs came out.  Before CDs i remember taping songs from radio stations … yeah, some of you know what i’m talking about :)   I still have some of those tapes … haha.  I’m always looking for new artists and music and i listen to everything from classical to heavy metal.  So i figured this would be fun … every once in a while post what i seem to be playing a lot of.  And if you would like … post some of your favs as a comment and i will check it out.  i ALWAYS love finding new music.

So, right now … i’ve been listening to Rise Against (hard rock) non-stop … and their song Audience of One off their new album “Appeal to Reason” is wicked.  In fact, the entire album is awesome so i definitely recommend downloading or buying it.   Check out the video (which is so cool) and song here:

There is another artist out there i’ve been listening to a ton of lately but i don’t want to spoil a surprise so SHE will go un-mentioned as of right now.  But stay tuned …

Also … i’m heading to Washington DC this weekend for 2 esessions … so those should pop up on here sometime soon.  Bring on the rain DC !!!

Amy & Jimmy

My friend Jen asked me to tag along for an esession with her client last weekend.  Not only do I jump at the chance to photograph, I figured it’d be a good idea since I will be assisting Jen at Amy & Jimmy’s wedding next month!  Why not, right?  So I added my 2 cents here and there … took a few shots … had lots of fun … saw downtown reading … and finished up.

Thanks Jen … and thanks Amy & Jimmy !

You can see Jen’s version of the session here … www.jenniferbretonphotography.com … and well, here is mine :)

future posts?  a bunch of esessions and a wedding … woot!

Britney Model …

My assistant Shawn and I met up with Britney down in Manayunk (near Philly) for a session last weekend.  This abandoned place was recommended by a friend on flickr whom i think dearly for as it is killer.  The only problem is that we got booted by the police.  Oh well … we were still able to squeeze in a good hour before they arrived and i fired off a ton of pics prior to them getting there.  Too bad … we just started gettin into a groove and we had other places to explore.  Needless to say, we still grabbed some sweet shots before heading into the town and finishing up there.

Special thanks to Shawn, my buddy who assisted me … AND had some sweet ideas!

I’m assisting an esession tomorrow with my wedding assistant as well as a bunch more of those in the new month.  On the horizon is a maternity session as well … woot !!

Enjoy !
